I submitted mine already. Still have a few more to turn in. I hope they will at least be nominated because I worked hard on determining the best build for the AI.

Will single profession bars be frowned upon then Martin? Cause I got a few bars in the works, but several honestly have no need for a secondary profession. Or at least don't utilize the 2ndary profession more than say one or two skills.

I think this is what you want to aim for. While tease-resto and escape scythe may be awesome, they just seem like a bad idea with only one henchie per class.

I bet everyone saw that dual classes were allowed and made on of their submissions be a touch Ranger.
I used secondary skills to some extent, but tried to limit it to 2 at most, and occassionally a hard rez. I was actually hoping to see no dual class options, but oh well.

Same magma as that's how henchmen were originally created. And my bars don't include gimmicks or even skills that a henchmen may abuse.
I mostly went for the few staples a certain profession may need for GvG/HA, and then included some underused skills that could still potentially work for a team.
Gotta keep in mind, these henchies will most often be used by teams and guilds who can't field a full 8 people. So what builds can we provide these henchies that are inventive and new, that fulfill the roles a particular profession may be required, and that work well with the AI of the henchmen.
And most importantly, a build that does NOT abuse heroes awesome reaction time and multi-ally management, as that will NOT help new guilds and HA teams to grow in both their gameplay and their build knowledge.

I'm just wondering. How many will be nominated and is it going to be for each class, or over all? I know at this point there is no sure answer, but can anyone take a guess?

Wait, does this mean that you set the attributes after looking at the bar? I may submit a bar with fairly unusual or specific attribute distributions in mind, do you see them?
Late question I know, but I suspect you do see them, as I suspect you just get the build code.

At least there picking bars that work with AI flaws... Exactly how I tuned my bars out. No defile defenses on necros cuz they don't use it often/ever, no shame on mesmers cuz they use it on melee and no infuse on monks cuz they don't use it often/ever. There are plenty more too which is actually why youll probly see bars with unexpected skill sets like heal other instead of infuse and remove hex instead of Veil. At least they thought things through...

anybody know if these 'henchmen' can be microed or flagged? there are a lot of good skills that i'd like to add, but if you can't micro them, they'd just be dumb about it. for example, flesh, death pact, make haste, SoC, any sort of spike skill... maintainable enchants, paragon echoes....
imo no micro greatly limits the potential skills for these henchmen.

Yes but in order to win a contest like this, I would think you'd need skill in the game and the logic to put a good build together.
The only thing I'd like to say about the contest is in many cases we'd need more than one henchman per profession. For example monks would need a hybrid, a condition/hex remover (maybe, depending on the meta), and a protect. Warriors should probably have at least one build for every weapon and at least one linebacking build. Rangers would need R-spike, and maybe a trapper and bunny thumper build.
Plus there is the problem with AI. Part of being a protect monk is you need to be able to anticipate things. AI won't be able to do that well. So while there needs to be a prot bar, the AI will limit the usefulness of it.
And boo at the 3 per format limit... it should be 3 per char per format.

yes, you would think that wouldn't you? but that is completely wrong--obviously the winners are going be chosen at random.

Why are they PVP only?
No one even wants hench in PVP, the PVE ones are still a complete joke.

For some reason I'm most eager to see the name these henches will have. I mean, it looks like they will go for something close to the original name. [Understatement] BUt I'm not sure we'll have an hench called I Healz The Nubz [/EndUnderstatement]

THey're PvP only because they will have PvP bars (hopefully) and they are taking hero out of pvp (or I think out of SOME form of pvp). Beside, Menhlo is still good enough to beat the game in HM with him.

At the very latest, yes ("no later than" = between now and then); however, hasn't Anet shown a pattern of postponing things?

It needs to happen sometime before their mega-update so they have time to get the henchmen names sorted out.
